La Alhambra-Granada, Spain

The Alhambra is the most visited sites in Spain.  Built on top of a hill overlooking Granada, La Alhambra was originally was constructed for he Moorish Sultans and hierarchy, and eventually captured by the Spanish rulers.  Most Americans know it as the place where in 1492, just after being taken over by Spanish Kings, Christopher Colombus received permission to set sail for India, which trip of course would lead him to discover the New World.
My experience began in the early morning as I wanted to explore it in the morning to get good light for pictures and to avoid the 105 degree afternoons.  The whole morning while I was there I got so lucky, it was overcast and made for absolutely beautiful lighting for pictures.  On such a rich historical sight, with incredible beauty, I had one of the best bonding days with my camera.  The views of Granada were one of a kind.  The palaces: architecture, statues, fountains, and carvings were truly amazing.  But the thing I was more taken by were the pristinely groomed gardens and courtyards.  I felt such good energy, and more times than one, despite the plethora of tourists, I felt like I was all alone, soaking in the energy of nature and could really understand why these peaceful gardens were such places of meditation and reflection for the Sultans and Kings of years past.
The most inspiration came when I entered the fountain courtyard, of which I could not stop taking pictures.   I looked at the fountains in front of me and it became really apparent that I felt completely one with the environment.  All other sounds disappeared.  All I could hear was the sound of the water, I was transported to another world, despite all the people shuffling around beside me, I felt as if I were standing alone in deep meditation.  The fountain and the powerful sound of the water, the trees, bushes, and vines, the beautiful bright flowers, and me, surrounded by the love of the Universe.  Nature, history, such beautifully cared for garden’s, God’s best gift to Earth, life giving, healing, peace bringing water.  Nothing left to do but abandon myself to this sensory pleasure and tranquility.  I sat, took a deep breathe in, and tears filled my eyes.  All I felt was love.  I was one with everything around me, the people, the water, the trees and flowers, the deep sense of connection was undeniable.  Everything was so still, so perfect, so…ONE.  How could anything be more perfect?  How could anything be more real?  Love . Happiness. Harmony.  That is the gift I received from this mesmerizing place.  I will take it and share it with the world.
There are a LOT of pictures.  I love all of them and really wasn’t in the mood to choose a select few as I thought all of the pictures turned out beautifully.  Below are about a third of my roll for the day.  Con mucho amor, te presento el magnifico  Alhambra….
