Coachella '12: fave female artists take one

The countdown is 100 and some days (sigh) until we get to escape the Portland spring rain and disappear into the magical desert to enjoy the fashion, art, and music fest formerly known as Coachella.  I am already in it full-throttle, downloading music, getting to know new albums, reading about artists I've heard of in passing, and getting SUPER excited to see those artists I adore.  This year is RAD in respect to all the fabulous female artists I am dying to see LIVE!!  Here's the wrap on those women and their bands.

First and foremost, (I called it last year that she would be back in 2012 and was hoping with all my heart it would actually come true)...& it did!  Florence Welch is returning to Coachella and this time we will be there to see her work her magic on stage.  I first fell in love with her from the fashion magazines.  This bombshell red-head kept popping up in these original styles that I was drawn to every time I saw her.  She rocks incredible 'fits that are totally original, a mix of vintage, boho, renaissance, all with an undeniably sexy feel (this girl can rock a pair of sequin hot pants like none other with those smokin' hot legs!).  Definitely not one to be missed, her sense of fashion is free, original, and incredibly fun.  ...then I heard her music and fell even deeper in LOVE.  My favorite video is this one.  Can't wait to see her rock it LIVE in the desert in only a few more weeks!

Brooklyn Rider in Portland

I recently had the fabulous opportunity to see Brooklyn Rider in Portland (thanks Uncle Robert and Uncle Bill!).  A fun, energy-filled string quartet with fantastic chemistry and extremely engaging, this fab-foursome knows how to put on a good show.  Certainly for the imaginative audience as both my friend were transported to all kinds of wonderful places through our daydreams as the music played on.  Our favorite was a Brooklyn Rider original. A classical/blue-grassy piece produced by one of the violin players that got the whole audience giggling at one point when the violinist paused to belt out some southern-accented lyrics about his girlfriend getting caught sleeping in another mans bed.  Check the group out at:  http://www.brooklynrider.com/
