Breathtaking, Blue, Steep, & Stunning Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre was my first stop in Italy.  I really had no idea what it was like other than I knew there were good sunsets and a few towns overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  I decided to go as I REALLY wanted some beach time~this should come as a big surprise ;)  So i decided to head to Cinque Terre and found myself in a quaint little Italian Coast paradise.  I could have done without all the tourists, but I guess they always seem to disappear once you get swept away by the beauty and excitement of being somewhere new.

The food was delicious in Cinque Terre, fresh seafood was a must which I took advantage of as it would be last visit to the Mediterranean this trip.  I also indulged in foccaccia, every morning, and lots of delicious pizza and gelato, which would turn out to become staples of my Italian traveler's diet!  And I'll go ahead and admit it, I let NO day go by without indulging in at least one Italian gelato!

As far as activities in Cinque Terre, the most popular thing to do is make the 10k hike from Riomaggiore to Monterrosso along the mountainside with breathtaking views of the sea and the coastline.  Parts of the hike get pretty narrow, but it is very romantic and unique, and well worth it I must say, when you make it to the last town and get to eat delicious seafood and take a swim in the crystal clear waters!!!  So this is what I did, took one day for the hike and one day was dedicated to doing nothing but lay on the beach and swim around in the Meditteranean, which naturally was mixed with a one woman dance party with my headphones on, cause when I am so happy and taking in the sun all I want to do is dance!

The lighting wasn't the best asthe sun was high throughout the hike, but you get teh picture of what the views were like from some of the scenic photos Iposted.

cats are everywhere in Italy!  and I LOVE them all<3

...coming true all day everyday

I LOVE COLORS!

start of the 10k mountain trek
Camino del Amore

loved these rock decorations

if someone can tell me what this is I will give you a BIG HUG! I really love these trees?/flowers?/whatever they are?  Someone suggested cactus flower...confirmation needed.  They are just so beautiful, always jutting seaside outward from the mountain, very independent, just reaching for the sea with the most lovely background from our point of view!

such beautiful rock walls

Sailing the Meditteranean...that shall be me one day when I meet my Captain (or, when I get a private DiveMaster job with a family who owns their own sailboat and invites me to come along with them to sail/dive all around the world!)

very romantic

stairs are so symbolic

doorways are also very symbolic, and there are MANY of them I have loved in Europe!

might be touristy but when I hit that Mediterranean water I thought I had died and gone to heaven...just me and the sea is the perfect way to be!

Riomaggiore just before he sunset...my hostel is just up that colorful road!

Finshing gigantic pizzas while watching the sun set over the Mediterranean is probably one of the best ways to spend an evening in Cinque Terre!

no blue like the Meditteranean blue!

found these really cool tiles going up a small stairway on the hike

Running up the first set of stairs...that didn't happen again on the trail, but the first time was fun :-)

These little make-shift transport grape-tending buggies were awesome!  Farmers are the BEST engineers!

Just have to make it to that far mountain...I could practically feel the sand between my toes already ;) haha

The views just kept getting better and better!

Our appetizer reward of delicious fresh seafood salads!  Cinque Terre hike FINISHERS!!

Cured tuna salad

Caprese

Gnocchi with pesto

And I'm off to Florence....goodbye Cinque Terre!
