Couchsurfers & Explorations

Upon returning from Europe this summer I was desperately craving the sharing of travel stories, foreign accents, and people who are in the midst of gallavanting from place to place with a sack on their back, eyes wide open, living everyday like it could be their last.  Thus....I signed us up to be couchsurfing hosts, and boy was it busy around here for a few weeks!  Traffic has slowed down a bit, though I LOVE the idea of the whole organisation and obviously plan to utilize it on my next travel ventures.  It's such an awesome way to travel, and super fun to be a host.  Having new people around certainly helped me decompress from the Europe trip, and I look forward to meeting new & exciting travelling humans in the future as we keep our doors open to it.

The girls from Germany...Lucky Lab beer flights

....then pizza from Hawthorne food carts

Fun night in the 'hood ;)

One of my FAVORITE things to do on a weekend in Portland is to go exploring at the fabulously entertaining Saturday Market!  Sara, Wendy, and I finally made it there sometime in August.  It was hott!  The fountains were bustling with kids, and not-kids, gettin' wet tryin' to keep cool.  Great street performers, fantastic arts and crafts, lots of colors, and plenty of smiles from strangers.  Gotta love these dayz.  This was also the day Wilson & I had our last summer BBQ.  Such a fabulous weekend. sigh. SMILE :D

Just before leaving for Burning Man I worked a promotion event at Timberline Lodge.  I've been snowboarding a handful of times at Timberline and God only knows why I have never taken the time to bask in the relaxing energy of the Lodge.  For future ventures I will probably spend more time in the lodge than ont he mountain!  The handcraft is mind-blowing, all the HUGE pillars are made with old trees so big only the endangered Sequoias can match their diameter!  The architecture is brilliant, fireplace is beautiful, and atmosphere is divine.  I had so much fun!  I got to experience the hype and powerful energy of Hood to Coast, visit with people from all over the world throughout the weekend, spent time with Betsy & Clive on the trails, relaxed in the evening admiring the mountain and it's grandeur while diving into a new book, and met an awesome couple from Boston who befriended me and invited me to eat with them under the stars.

View from my "office"
Timber Tiger.  These little rascals live in the lodge, literally!  They rubbed up against my legs a couple times & would eat from my hands!  Kept me entertained anyway.

Lovely fireplace

Radical  architecture!
