Otter Rock Surf Trip

Thanks to my newest soul sibling (yet another lovely Canadian in my life!) I have to say this trip was one of the most peaceful, healing, rejuvenating get-aways I've taken in a LONG time.  Sometimes I forget just HOW powerful nature is, and with the seasonal change, getting busier at work, and just having so much going on sometimes I forget to turn inward.  When this happens I inevitably get overwhelmed and need to do some serious re-grounding.  ...That was this trip for me!  Got some solid work in with a clear mind, hopped on a board for the first time in almost a year, did some crafting, & due to a series of comical events, ended up running along the beach all the way from Otter Rock to Newport!  And I can't forget to mention how incredible our little surf shack was, compostable toilet and all!  The view was phenomenal. We saw Grey Whales everyday from our perch on the cliff!  We had some good luck with the weather and got some rad sunsets in, and finally on the last night got some friends to come down and built a fire, played on the beach, and even did Polar Bear Club before coming in to warm-up in the hot tub, overlooking the magnificent Pacific Ocean.  Needless to say, it was the perfect, rather introverted, escape.  And I must remember that when times get seemingly difficult, letting nature do Her powerful healing to the mind, body, and soul is where I will turn first.

First are some vintage-style photos of the surf shack.

The view from our perch on the cliff!

And it all concluded on the last morning while packing our stuff up with a rainbow over the Pacific, whales in the distance, in the best company a girl could ask for!
